Each member of this system shall receive credit for service for time during which he or she holds office as a legislator after becoming a member of this system. A member may also receive credit for time during which he or she held office as a legislator prior to becoming a member, provided he or she makes contributions therefor to the Legislatorsâ Retirement Fund, as provided in Section 9357.2.
