The duties of the California State Auditorâs Office are to examine and report annually upon the financial statements prepared by the executive branch of the state and to perform other related assignments, including performance audits, that are mandated by statute. For the purposes of this chapter âofficeâ means the âCalifornia State Auditorâs Office,â unless the context clearly requires otherwise.
