âLate independent expenditureâ means an independent expenditure that totals in the aggregate one thousand dollars ($1,000) or more and is made for or against a specific candidate or measure involved in an election during the 90-day period preceding the date of the election or on the date of the election. For purposes of the Board of Administration of the Public Employeesâ Retirement System and the Teachersâ Retirement Board, âthe date of the electionâ is the deadline to return ballots.
