(a) In cities having a population of more than 2,800,000, the design, improvement and survey data of subdivisions and the form and content of tentative and final maps thereof, and the procedure to be followed in securing official approval are governed by the provisions of this chapter and by the additional provisions of local ordinances dealing with subdivisions, the enactment of which is required by this chapter. (b) Local ordinances may provide a proper and reasonable fee to be collected from the subdivider for the examination of tentative and final maps.
