For purposes of this chapter, all of the following definitions apply: (a) âQualified professional certifierâ means an architect licensed pursuant to Chapter 3 (commencing with Section 5500) of Division 3 of the Business and Professions Code, or a professional engineer licensed pursuant to Chapter 7 (commencing with Section 6700) of Division 3 of the Business and Professions Code, who meets both of the following conditions: (1) Has at least five years of experience in commercial building design or plan review. (2) Maintains professional liability insurance in an amount not less than two million dollars ($2,000,000) per occurrence. (b) âRestaurantâ means a retail food establishment that prepares, serves, and vends food directly to the consumer and is not a fast food restaurant, as that term is defined in Section 1474 of the Labor Code. (c) âTenant improvementâ means a change to the interior of an existing building.
