(a) “Public service” with respect to a state member also means all periods of service rendered as an officer, warrant officer, or a person in the enlisted ranks of the California National Guard prior to electing membership in this system pursuant to Section 20326. “Public service” also means an officer, warrant officer, or a person in the enlisted ranks of the California National Guard rendering service authorized by Title 10 of the United States Code. Public service may not be granted if the service described in this section was terminated by a discharge under other than honorable conditions. (b) A member who elects to purchase service credit for public service under this section shall pay the contributions described in Sections 21050 and 21052.
