The state assents to the provisions of an act passed by Congress known as the Smith-Lever Act, and entitled, “An act to provide for cooperative agricultural extension work between the agricultural colleges in the several states receiving the benefits of an act of congress approved July 2, 1862, and of acts supplementary thereto, and the United States Department of Agriculture,” approved May 8, 1914. The Regents of the University of California are authorized to receive the grants of money appropriated under the act of Congress and to organize and conduct agricultural extension work in accordance with the terms and conditions expressed in the act.
