A local educational agency is not required to purchase medical equipment for an individual pupil. However, the local educational agency is responsible for providing other specialized equipment for use at school that is needed to implement the individualized education program. For purposes of this section, âmedical equipmentâ does not include an assistive technology device, as defined in Section 1401(1) of Title 20 of the United States Code.
