The primary functions of the School Safety and Security Resource Unit are all the following: (a) Identification of exemplary programs and techniques which have been effectively utilized by any county superintendent of schools or in any school district to combat crime and violence in the public schools, and dissemination of information relating to such programs and techniques to county superintendents of schools and school districts. (b) Provision of technical assistance to county superintendents of schools and school districts which are developing and implementing programs to deal with crime and violence at school sites. (c) Attempt to ascertain the underlying causes of violence and vandalism at school sites, and dissemination of such information to county superintendents of schools and school districts.
