The State Librarian shall also do all of the following: (a) Purchase books, maps, engravings, paintings, furniture, and other materials and equipment necessary to carry out California State Library programs and services. (b) Number and stamp all books and maps belonging to the library, or otherwise indicate ownership of them, and keep a catalog thereof. (c) Have bound all books and papers that require binding. (d) Keep a register of all books taken from the library.
