The chief or his or her designee may inspect, examine, or investigate the relevant records, books, accounts, and files created and maintained by the alarm company operator. The chief shall have access to those relevant business records, not including client information relating to the operational integrity of the alarm system, necessary to the examination for the purpose of performing a random audit to determine compliance with the provisions of this chapter.
