An optometrist shall retain a patientâs records for a minimum of seven years from the date he or she completes treatment of the patient. If the patient is a minor, the patientâs records shall be retained for a minimum of seven years from the date he or she completes treatment of the patient and at least until the patient reaches 19 years of age.
