(a) Participation of community colleges in intercollegiate athletic programs shall be limited to basketball, volleyball, and spring sports, except as provided in subsection (b) of this section. (b) Community colleges may participate in an intercollegiate football program provided that state funds, either directly or indirectly, or funds derived from property taxes or student fees are not expended to support the program.
