(a) In order to promote a coordinated system of higher education in Arkansas and to ensure an orderly and effective development of each state-supported institution of higher education, the Arkansas Higher Education Coordinating Board, after consultation with the State Board of Education, shall identify a minimum core of high school courses recommended for preparation for college. (b) The Arkansas Higher Education Coordinating Board, in consultation with the State Board of Education, shall deem a career-ready pathway to a diploma to be equivalent to a standard high school diploma. (c) The Arkansas Higher Education Coordinating Board shall communicate this information at least annually to public school superintendents, who shall make copies available each year to public school students enrolled in grades seven through twelve (7-12). (d) The Arkansas Higher Education Coordinating Board may revise the list of high school courses from time to time, as needed. Amended by Act 2023, No. 237,§ 55, eff. 3/8/2023.
