As used in this subchapter, unless the context otherwise requires: (1) "Accumulated sick leave" means the total number of days of unused sick leave that a school employee has to his or her credit; (2) "Immediate family" includes the school employee's spouse, children, parents, and any other relatives in the same household; (3) "School employee" includes any employee of a school district who works not less than twenty (20) hours per week and who is not compelled by law to secure a teaching license from the State Board of Education as a condition precedent to employment. This subchapter covers those school employees who are normally and usually designated as noncertified school employees; and (4) "Sick leave" means absence with full pay from one's duties in a public school for the reason of personal illness or illness in his or her immediate family.
