(a) (1) It is the intent of the General Assembly by this subchapter to provide opportunities for children of this state by allowing local community members the opportunity to establish and maintain public schools in a manner that optimizes educational resources within a community. (2) The General Assembly finds that the educational needs of the students of this state shall be best served by not allowing creation of a school district under this subchapter with fewer than two thousand five hundred (2,500) students, thus ensuring adequate educational opportunities for students. (b) A school district created under this subchapter shall have all the rights, privileges, and responsibilities of other public school districts. Amended by Act 2015, No. 372,§ 1, eff. 7/22/2015.
