(a) (1) It is the duty of the Arkansas Department of Transportation to inspect the data collected and maintained relating to an accident as reported to the department by the Division of Arkansas State Police under § 27-53-207(b) . (2) The inspections shall determine, within the judgment of department personnel, whether safety improvements, increased visibility, warning signs, traffic control devices, or any other safety improvements are necessary which could reduce or prevent the future occurrence of similar accidents at the same locations. (b) The department shall develop a schedule for and implement those safety improvements considered necessary by the department under subdivision (a)(2) of this section.
