(a) As used in this section, "health plan" means any group, blanket, or individual accident and health insurance policy, contract, or plan issued in this state by an insurance company, a hospital medical service corporation, or a health maintenance organization, provided that nothing in this subchapter shall apply to accident only, specified disease, hospital indemnity, Medicare supplement, long-term care, disability income, or other limited benefit health insurance policies. (b) A health plan shall not refuse to reimburse a physician at the full rate for healthcare services provided by a physician assistant if the practice complies with the laws of this state. (c) A health plan shall not impose a practice or supervision restriction on a physician assistant that is inconsistent with or more restrictive than the restriction already imposed by the laws of this state.
