Certificate of authority - Eligibility - Combinations of kinds of insurance

An insurer which otherwise qualifies therefor may be authorized to transact any one (1) kind or combination of kinds of insurance, as defined in §§ 23-62-101 - 23-62-108 , except: (1) A life insurer shall be authorized to transact in addition only accident and health insurance. However, the Insurance Commissioner shall continue to so authorize any life insurer otherwise qualified that, immediately prior to January 1, 1960, was lawfully authorized to transact in this state kinds of insurance in addition to life and accident and health; (2) A reciprocal insurer shall not transact life insurance; and (3) A title insurer shall be a stock insurer.
