Bicycles transported as baggage

(a) Bicycles are declared to be baggage and shall be checked and transported as baggage for passengers by all railway companies operating in this state and be subject to the same charges and liabilities as other baggage. However, no passenger shall be required to crate, cover, or otherwise protect any such bicycle, and railway companies shall be responsible for the bicycle in the same manner as all other baggage. (b) Under the provisions of this section, no railroad corporation shall be required to transport more than one (1) bicycle for a single individual in addition to any other baggage as shall bring the whole within the lawful weight limit.
