(a) A cosmetological school or establishment under this subchapter shall establish a domestic violence and sexual assault awareness training course. (b) (1) A student enrolled in a cosmetological school or establishment shall complete a one-hour course in domestic violence and sexual assault awareness training as a part of his or her required training hours under § 17-26-304 in order to be eligible for an examination. (2) A student under this chapter who is trained in domestic violence and sexual assault awareness shall not be civilly or criminally liable for acting in good faith or failing to act on information obtained during the course of employment concerning potential domestic violence or sexual assault. (c) (1) The training course under this section shall be approved by the Department of Health and provided by an instructor, school, institution, or other organization approved by the department. (2) The department shall establish by rule a means for the verification of completion of the training course by the student. Added by Act 2017, No. 488,§ 2, eff. 8/1/2017.
