(a) The secretary of the commission shall file with the treasurer or disbursing officer of his or her city a certificate of those entitled to compensation from the city under this chapter. (b) No compensation shall be allowed to any member of the police or fire departments of the affected cities unless his or her name shall be so certified by the secretary.
