(a) The civil service commission shall select one (1) of its members as secretary, who shall keep the books and records of the commission and shall conduct the correspondence of the commission. (b) The secretary shall also report or cause to be reported the evidence in all trials or hearings before the commission, and the municipality shall pay the reasonable expense thereof. (c) The secretary shall act as clerk when the commission is conducting a trial or hearing and shall perform such other functions and duties as the commission shall direct.
