Acting city administrator

(a) (1) If the city administrator is absent from the city or is unable to perform his or her duties, if the board of directors suspends the city administrator, or if there is a vacancy in the office of the city administrator, the board may appoint by resolution an acting city administrator to serve until the city administrator returns, until his or her disability or suspension ceases, or until another city administrator is appointed and qualified, as the case may be. (2) The board may suspend or remove an acting city administrator at any time. (b) (1) The board, in the exercise of its discretion, may determine whether the acting city administrator shall furnish bond. (2) If in any instance the board requires the acting city administrator to furnish bond, the premiums shall be paid by the city. The bond in respect to form, amount, and security shall be subject to the approval of the board. (c) The acting city administrator shall receive a reasonable compensation to be fixed by the board.
