(a) An investigation of child maltreatment or suspected child maltreatment under this chapter shall include interviews with: (1) The child as provided under § 12-18-608 ; (2) The parents, both custodial and noncustodial; (3) If neither parent is the alleged offender, the alleged offender; (4) Current or past healthcare providers when the allegation of child maltreatment was reported by a healthcare provider; and (5) Any other relevant persons. (b) If, after exercising reasonable diligence in conducting any or all interviews, the subjects of the interviews cannot be located or are unable to communicate, the efforts to conduct the interviews shall be documented and the investigation shall proceed under this chapter.
