State Crime Laboratory recommendation of additional offenses

(a) The State Crime Laboratory may recommend to the General Assembly that it enact legislation for the inclusion of additional offenses for which DNA samples shall be taken and otherwise subjected to the provisions of this subchapter. (b) In determining whether to recommend additional offenses, the laboratory shall consider those offenses for which DNA testing will have a substantial impact on the detection and identification of sex offenders and violent offenders. Acts 1997, No. 737, § 7.
