26-232. Protection of property All state and federal property shall so far as possible be stored in state armories, warehouses or arsenals. If the governor determines it necessary to protect the interests of the state or the United States, he may require an officer having state or federal property in his possession as the responsible and accountable officer, to furnish bond for its care and safekeeping. The property shall be safeguarded and accounted for in accordance with regulations of the department of defense of the United States or an appropriate subdivision thereof.
