AMENDED BY ACT 2026-327, EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 1, 2026. SEE ACT FOR REVISED LANGUAGE. (a) The Governor shall serve as one member of the Southern States Energy Board or may appoint another person to serve as his representative. Either the Governor or the person appointed by the Governor may designate another person as a deputy or assistant to such member. (b) The President of the Senate shall appoint one member of the Southern States Energy Board from among the membership of the Senate. The president or the member may designate another person as a deputy or assistant to such member. (c) The Speaker of the House of Representatives shall appoint one member of the Southern States Energy Board from among the membership of the House. The speaker or the member may designate another person as a deputy or assistant to such member. (d) Pursuant to Article II of the compact, members shall serve at the pleasure of their appointive authority for a term of four years. If any such member be the head of a department or agency of this state, he may designate a subordinate officer or employee of his department or agency to serve in his stead as permitted by Article II(a) of the compact and in conformity with any applicable bylaws of the board.
