To manage, supervise, control, and distribute the fund, there shall be a board of trustees, to be known as the Board of Trustees of the Firemen’s and Policemen’s Pension and Relief Fund, which shall have the following five members: (1) The officer of the city having supervision of the police department, and the fire department, who shall be the chair of the board. (2) The chief of the city fire department. (3) The chief of the city police department. (4) One firefighter. (5) One policeman. Immediately after June 19, 1947, the chief of the police department shall appoint a policeman and the chief of the fire department shall appoint a firefighter to serve as members of the board until their successors are elected as provided in Section 45–57A–62.05.
