Regulating Operation of Bingo

As used in this article the following words shall mean the following, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise: (1) B INGO . The game, commonly known as bingo, where numbers or symbols on a card are matched with numbers or symbols selected at random. (2) B INGO SESSION . A consecutive period of time not to exceed five consecutive hours during which bingo is played in a given day and not to exceed two days in a given week, except for special permit holders. (3) L OCATION . A single building, hall, enclosure, or outdoor area used for the purpose of playing bingo pursuant to a permit or license issued under this article. (4) P ERMIT HOLDER . A qualified organization or qualified club which has a permit or license pursuant to this article. (5) P ERSON . Any human being, corporation, association, or other legal entity. (6) Q UALIFIED CLUB . A private club with annual membership dues of three hundred dollars ($300) or more. (7) QUALIFIED ORGANIZATION. A bona fide religious, educational, service, senior citizens, fraternal, or veterans’ organization which qualifies as an exempt organization under Section 501(c) of the Internal Revenue Code and operates without profit to its members and, except for special permit holders issued pursuant to Section 45–57-150.03, which has been in existence continuously as that organization for a period of five years and which has owned or leased real property in Russell County for at least five years immediately prior to making application for operating bingo in Russell County. (8) SPECIAL PERMIT HOLDER. One who holds a valid permit for a special occasion as provided by Section 45–57–150.03.
