Service of Process Fee — District Court or Circuit Court

(a)(1) In addition to all other court costs authorized in Pickens County, a service of process fee of twenty-five dollars ($25) shall be collected for service or attempted service of process on each document requiring personal service of process by the sheriff in all cases filed or pending in the district court or the circuit court of Pickens County. (2) The service of process fee collected by the circuit court clerk for a case filed or pending in either court shall be distributed as follows: a. Five dollars ($5) to the circuit clerk’s Judicial Administration Fund. b. Twenty dollars ($20) to the Sheriff’s Law Enforcement Fund for the law enforcement purposes of the sheriff’s office. (3) The State of Alabama, its political subdivisions, and their instrumentalities are exempt from this cost. (b) The fees deposited into the Sheriff’s Law Enforcement Fund are in addition to, and do not diminish, offset, or take the place of any other cost or fee that is disbursed to the sheriff or the county jail.
