The chair of the board shall be paid at the rate of three hundred dollars ($300) per month and each of the other members of the board shall be paid at the rate of two hundred fifty dollars ($250) per month. The compensation of the members of the board shall be paid in monthly installments from the money received from the operation of the utilities under the control of the board in such proportions as the board may from time to time fix and determine. The members of the board shall be reimbursed from funds of the utilities under the control of the board for travel and other expenses incurred by members of the board in the performance of their duties.
