Additional Court Costs; Judicial Administration Fund

(a) In addition to any court costs now authorized in the district, circuit, and juvenile courts of Monroe County, there shall be assessed and collected an additional court cost of seven dollars fifty cents ($7.50) in all civil and criminal cases, including traffic cases in the district, circuit, and juvenile courts of the county. (b) The additional court costs shall be paid to the Presiding Circuit Judge’s Judicial Administration Fund and may be used for the operation of the office. (c) Nothing in this section shall impair the authority of a circuit or district judge to waive or to remit the court costs and fees assessed pursuant to this section upon the sworn and valid showing of substantial financial hardship. (d) It is the intent of the Legislature that the assessment and collection of the additional court cost pursuant to this section not diminish or take the place of any other source of funds for the office of the presiding circuit judge.
