Salary of Commission Members; Benefits; Increases

(a) Effective beginning the term of office of any member of the Blount County Commission which commences after the November 2024 election, each member of the Blount County Commission, not including the chair, shall receive an annual salary of 80 percent of the salary of the Chair of the Blount County Commission. The salary provided in this section shall be payable in equal monthly or biweekly installments, shall be the total compensation of the members of the commission, and shall be in lieu of any other salary or expense allowance previously provided by law. (b) The members of the county commission shall continue to participate in retirement and to receive health insurance benefits as provided on June 1, 2024. (c) Effective beginning the fiscal year commencing on October 1, 2025, members of the county commission shall receive the same cost-of-living or other uniform increases granted to county employees in addition to the salary provided in subsection (a). During the then current term of any member of the county commission, the additional increase shall be paid as an expense allowance. Effective on the next term of any members of the county commission, any cumulative increases shall be converted to salary. Notwithstanding the foregoing, the total compensation of any member of the county commission shall not exceed 80 percent of the salary of the chair.
