Any person who shall influence or have any understanding or connivance with any owner, groom, or other person associated with or interested in any kennel, dog, or race in which any dog participates, to prearrange or predetermine the results of any such race, or any person who shall stimulate or depress a dog for the purpose of affecting the results of a race, shall be guilty of a felony and upon conviction thereof, shall be imprisoned in the state prison for not less than one year nor more than 10 years, or shall be fined not less than one thousand dollars ($1,000) nor more than five thousand dollars ($5,000), or both, in the discretion of the court.
