Compensation Increases

(a) After April 6, 2022, the Sheriff of Marshall County may receive the same uniform increases in compensation, such as cost-of-living increases, granted to other elected county officers in Marshall County. (b) During the current term of any sheriff serving on April 6, 2022, the uniform increases shall be paid to the sheriff as expense allowances. Effective beginning the next term of office of any sheriff elected or appointed after April 6, 2022, any uniform increases paid to the sheriff as an expense allowance shall be converted to salary and added to the annual salary of the sheriff rounded to the nearest dollar. (c) Notwithstanding Section 11-2A-4, any uniform increases granted to any sheriff pursuant to this section shall be added to the permanent salary of the Sheriff of Marshall County elected or appointed after April 6, 2022. (d) Any uniform increases in compensation granted to the Sheriff of Marshall County shall be in addition to any other compensation granted to the sheriff.
