Expense Allowance; Salary; Cost-of-Living Adjustments

(a) Commencing on March 28, 2022, the Sheriff of Baldwin County shall receive an additional expense allowance in an amount so that the total compensation of the sheriff is one hundred thirty thousand dollars ($130,000) per year. This expense allowance shall be payable in equal monthly installments from the general fund of the county. (b) Commencing with the next term of office of the Sheriff of Baldwin County, the sheriff shall receive an annual salary of one hundred thirty thousand dollars ($130,000) in lieu of any and all compensation now provided by law. (c) Commencing with the next term of office of the Sheriff of Baldwin County, should any employee of the office of the Sheriff of Baldwin County receive a cost-of-living compensation adjustment, that same cost-of-living adjustment shall apply to the sheriff’s compensation. Any increase granted to the sheriff pursuant to this subsection shall be disbursed to the sheriff as an expense allowance until the end of that term of office as sheriff, at which time the increase shall be converted to salary.
