(a) The Attorney General and the district attorneys of the several circuits shall render to the chief examiner, without additional compensation, legal services as he or she may request. (b) Whenever the legality of any payment or shortage is involved in an examination, the chief examiner shall submit the facts in writing to the Attorney General and request his or her opinion as to the applicable law. The Attorney General shall immediately provide a copy of each opinion affecting any state or county officer in the collection or disbursement of public funds to the officer affected, to the chief examiner, and to the Governor.
