Documentation of Deafness Provided Upon Application for or Renewal of Driver’s License, Identification Card, Etc

(a) January 1, 2018, each person who applies for a new driver’s license, nondriver identification card, or vessel license, or a learner’s license or permit, or the renewal of any of the above licenses, cards, or permits, may provide the Alabama State Law Enforcement Agency with documentation of deafness. The information provided in this section shall be stored in the records of the agency and made available to law enforcement personnel for use in their official duties. (b) The Alabama State Law Enforcement Agency may adopt rules necessary to carry out this section.
