(a) The Office of Inland Waterways and Intermodal Infrastructure is created as an office within the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA). (b) The office shall be administered by an Executive Director of Inland Waterways and Intermodal Infrastructure, who shall be appointed by and report directly to the Director of ADECA. The executive director shall have experience and knowledge of Alabama’s inland waterways and intermodal infrastructure development. The executive director may hire an assistant and staff as necessary to participate in the administration of the office and the implementation of this article.
