Alabama Code § 36-26-15.1

Proof of Registration Required for Employment or School Enrollment

(a) No person who is required to register with the Selective Service System under the United States Military Selective Service Act (50 U.S.C. App. 453) shall: (1) Be offered employment by the State of Alabama without proof of such registration; nor (2) Be eligible to initially enroll in any state postsecondary institution of higher learning without proof of such registration. (b) No person who has failed to register as required by the United States Military Selective Service Act (50 U.S.C. App. 453) and who is employed by this state as of January 1, 1992, shall be promoted or reclassified to a higher position without proof of such registration. (c) The State Personnel Board and the institutions of higher learning in this state are hereby authorized to promulgate such rules and regulations as they deem appropriate to effectuate the intent of this section in the manner prescribed by the state administrative procedure statutes. Certification by the applicant of his registration status shall be deemed adequate to effectuate the intent of this section.
