Application Fee; Retention by Department

(a) Every applicant for an original boater safety certification shall be required to pay an application fee of five dollars ($5) to the secretary upon applying to the person designated by the secretary to conduct examinations in the county of the applicant’s residence. The five dollar ($5) application fee shall be required prior to the issuance of each certification of examination or exemption from examination. (b) The secretary shall issue proper receipts for the application fee. The application fees are appropriated on a continuous basis to ALEA and shall be retained by the department and utilized for boating safety or law enforcement purposes and shall not revert to the State General Fund at the end of each fiscal year.
