Unless a different meaning is clearly indicated by the context, for the purposes of this chapter, the terms defined in this section have the following meanings ascribed to them: (1) DEPARTMENT. The Department of Homeland Security. (2) DIRECTOR. The Director of Homeland Security. (3) HOMELAND SECURITY. The development, coordination, and implementation of a state policy to secure the State of Alabama from terrorist threat or attack. The term includes efforts to detect, prepare for, prevent, protect against, share intelligence where applicable, respond to, and recover from terrorist attacks within the State of Alabama. (4) POLITICAL SUBDIVISION. A county, city, town, or fire district of the State of Alabama.
