Powers of Elected Members of the Legislative Council

(a) The Senate Legislative Council, after considering in a timely manner persons recommended by the Secretary of the Senate, shall hire the employees of the Senate. Once hired, all Senate employees are at will employees and shall be under the control and supervision of the Secretary of the Senate. The Secretary of the Senate has the authority to discipline and terminate employees. (b) The Senate Legislative Council or the Secretary of the Senate, as appropriate, shall utilize the services of the Director of Human Resources, including providing lists of applicants for open positions and the written application for employment for each, providing assistance in determination of job classifications, salary schedules, benefits, and terms of employment, maintaining custody of records as requested, and providing consultation on employee discipline. (c) The Senate Legislative Council may delegate such powers and duties as herein conferred upon it to the Secretary of the Senate.
