(a) A person commits the crime of transacting insurance without a license if he or she knowingly transacts the business of insurance in violation of laws requiring a license, certificate of authority, or other legal authority for the transaction of the business of insurance. (b) Transacting insurance without a license is a Class A misdemeanor.
