Establishment and Purpose of Programs

The department shall establish programs for breast, cervical, and colorectal cancer awareness for the following purposes: (1) Reducing morbidity and mortality from breast, cervical, and colorectal cancer through prevention, early detection, and treatment. (2) Making breast, cervical, and colorectal cancer screening services available to underserved and uninsured individuals throughout the state, especially those whose economic circumstances or geographic locations limit access to screening facilities. (3) Raising public awareness about breast, cervical, and colorectal cancer. (4) Collecting, classifying, and analyzing relevant research information and data concerning breast, cervical, and colorectal cancer. (5) Serving as a resource for information regarding breast, cervical, and colorectal cancer.
