(a) No person who is a student in a primary or secondary school shall be eligible to participate in the Teachers’ Retirement System of Alabama. (b) No person employed on or after May 13, 1988, by an employer whose employees are covered by the Teachers’ Retirement System of Alabama and whose employment is incidental to such person’s status as a student at a public educational institution of higher learning shall be eligible to participate in the Teachers’ Retirement System of Alabama.
