Creation; Direction; Duties of Assistant State Superintendents

(a) There shall be a Department of Education, which shall be under the direction of the State Superintendent of Education with the advice and counsel of the State Board of Education. (b) The assistant state superintendents of education, when they are provided by the State Board of Education, shall perform the duties of the state superintendent when so directed by the State Superintendent of Education and such other duties as required by the State Superintendent of Education.
