Alabama Code § 16-1-21

Payments by Boards of Education for Fund-Saving Suggestions; Section Permissive Only

(a) All local boards of education, throughout the state, now existing or hereinafter established, are hereby authorized to pay employees for suggestions which result in a saving of funds for that particular board of education. Such expenditures are to be made from the general operating funds of the particular board of education awarding the payment. (b) The expenditures authorized herein shall not be paid to members of the board of education nor to administrative personnel whose normal job duties include providing suggestions for saving of board funds. (c) This section is permissive only and any authority to give moneys to employees for suggestions remains with the local county or city boards of education. The amount of payment shall be determined by the individual boards, and shall be calculated in such manner as the individual boards see fit.
