(a) Commencing on July 1, 2010, any new contract awarded for the construction of a new public school, unless the school has an Alabama Building Commission approved safe space or hallway, shall include an Alabama Building Commission approved safe space or hallway. (b) The State Department of Education shall coordinate with the Alabama Building Commission and develop, promulgate, and enforce any rules necessary for the implementation of this section.
